Recreational Gymnastics: Tumbling & Trampoline Classes

Boys and Girls
Ages 3 to 17

Our Recreation Program classes start with the basics of tumbling and trampoline, focusing on body control, balance, strength, and flexibility. Athletes of all ages, body types and abilities can benefit from our classes, which also enhance skill development across all gymnastics disciplines. Our students progress through a variety of training stations learning and improving their techniques for cartwheels, handstands, round-offs, back walkovers, front walkovers, back handsprings, front handsprings, aerials and flips. Students will also learn the basic foundations of equipment safety, jumping technique, and skills development such as body shapes, front tucks, back tucks, baranis, twisting, and much more!

Coaches focus on the individual capabilities of each student while introducing new skills using progressions and continuing to help our students reach their goals. Our coaches put a strong emphasis on correct technique and form. Our highly qualified tumbling and trampoline coaches will give your child the quality attention they deserve and work with them on a personal level to achieve their goals. Whether your child is looking to develop skills for cheerleading, gymnastics, dance or just wants to enjoy tumbling and trampoline classes, this is the right program for your child!


Recreational Classes

Tuition: Yearly, $55 membership, fee per family. See our session pricing chart.

Commitment: Session based (GSTA pre-sets 7–12-week sessions)

Time Commitment: 40-55-minute class: Once or twice per week, optional

Competition availability: Recreational Gym Show

Description: These classes are designed for boys and girls, walking -17 years of age. 55-minute class is broken down by age. Athletes and coach will meet same day and time once a week and focus on the basics of gymnastics, tumbling and trampoline. Each week we continue improving the basics and adding drills for the next, harder skills. Each athlete learns at their own pace.

40-55-minute class rotation schedule: This class looks something like this weekly, 5 minute warm up, 10-minute trampoline, 20-minute floor and 20 minute rotating weekly between bars, vault and beam. Only tumbling classes are floor only and sometimes trampoline.

Make Ups/Refunds: 2 make ups with in the 7–12-week session per class/per child. No refunds. Credit to GSTA portal with doctors note.

Skill Requirement: No skills required, beginner level through advanced.


Advanced Classes

Competition availability: Recreational Gym Show

Description: This class is for kids who have been part of GSTA family for some time and are looking to get more gym time to learn and improve skills and work on harder, more advance skills. In this class we also focus on USA Gymnastics routines on trampoline, floor, and Double Mini Trampoline.

85-minute class rotation schedule: This class looks something like this weekly, 15 minute warm up/run/jump rope, 30-minute trampoline, 20-minute floor and 20-minute rotating weekly between bars, vault, and beam.

Make Ups/Refunds: 2 make ups with in the 7–12-week session per class/per child. No refunds. Credit to GSTA portal with doctors note.

Skill Requirement:

  • Floor- Handstand, cartwheel, roundoff, bridge kickover.
  • Trampoline- Tuck/straddle/pike jump, seat belly, seat turn, seat /roundoff.

About our classes

 

Boys and Girls 3-4 years old

Our 3–4-year-old classes focus heavily on learning the basics. Students will learn how to support their body weight in various positions and become more comfortable with going upside down. Students will learn forward/backward rolls using incline mats and start learning the fundamentals of handstands and cartwheels. They will be practicing handstands against walls and using blocks to start cartwheels. Students will learn to jump on the trampoline, walk across the balance beam, and hold themselves up on the bars. These classes are all about improving body awareness and control while learning the foundations of gymnastics.

Boys and Girls 5-7 years old

In our 5–7-year-old classes we continue to build on the foundation of gymnastics. At this age, students will learn to hold handstands, how to do cartwheels, progress their cartwheels to roundoffs and much more. We will work on their bridges, backbends and kickovers, which will lead to front/back walkovers. Students will learn how to connect skills and jumps on the trampoline, pull themselves over on the bars, jump on the balance beam and more during class.

Girls 6 + classes

Our girls’ classes tackle everything from gymnasts just getting started, all the way to gymnasts learning flips. Gymnasts will learn and perfect basic skills and build upon those skills. We focus on roundoffs, front/back walkovers, back handsprings, and flips.

Boys 6-10

Our boys’ only classes focus on building strength and athleticism all while learning different tumbling skills. This class tackles a variety of apparatuses including trampoline, tumble track, double mini, bars and vault, learning and building upon their skills on each event.

85 min advance

In our advanced classes, we focus on tumbling and trampoline skills. This class is for those students who have excelled in rec classes and want to continue to advance their gymnastics skill set. Gymnasts in these classes will learn flips, flips with turns, twisting and more on trampoline. Gymnasts will improve and advance their tumbling, learning back handsprings, aerials, and flips.
